Indev was the second phase of the development of Minecraft following Classic and lasted from December 2009 to February 2010.

  • Added crafting tables, called work bench at the time
  • Added diamonds, diamond ore, and diamond blocks, which were called emerald at the time
  • Added bowls, mushrooms, and mushroom stew
  • Added sticks and bows
  • Added gold and iron ingots
  • Pickaxes, swords, shovels, and axes can now be made out of iron, gold, or diamond

  • Flint and steel is now craftable
  • Sheep no longer drop anything upon death

Indev January 23, 2010 * Added an item form for wood, dropped when mining a wood block
    • Previously mining wood would yield 3-5 wood planks

  • Bread now requires 3 wheat to craft instead of 6
  • Cobblestone can be smelted into stone
